2022: Looking Forward

Confession: I love marking the new year.

As the calendar ends, there’s an underlying sensation of closure. A gentle ending and a hopeful beginning. It’s not often in life that we get an ending that isn’t triggered by a negative catalyst. The turning of the calendar is neutral, yet inevitable. And the beginning of a new year – the promise of more time – is what you make it.

Looking forward to 2022, I’m filled with a comfortable level of optimism. We, as a family, and me, as a person and as a business owner, are entering new phases. After a little over a year as a package carrier, Hank is back to his true love starting a new job in aquatics and sports. With it comes an unfamiliar new feature to our home – a predictable schedule for him. He has never had a job with a normal schedule and he is thrilled (as am I.)

For my business, I’ve settled into my services and with my clients. Everything is running at a comfortable pace that is allowing me to focus on creative projects. One that has already started is going through a rebrand. I’ve hired an incredibly talented agency that was also a client of mine last year. The benefit of that is we know each other and our businesses so well that there’s a boat ton of trust. I’ve seen previews of the brand mood board and I cannot wait to launch in early February.

Personally, I’m feeling more settled than perhaps I’ve ever felt in my life. I’m doing what I truly love for work. My family is healthy and flourishing. Our home is slowly beginning to reflect the family that lives here. I finally feel like I have the capacity – time, energy, brain – to focus inward and deeper.

My word for 2022 is cultivate.

I’m cultivating more and deeper joy, health, relationships, and skillsets. I know that sounds like a tall order, but with the foundation we’ve been working on for the past few years, we’re primed and ready.

Cultivating will show up in a few different ways in my life.

We’re also continuing to cultivate financial health by focusing on paying down our debt – but that’s another post!

Until then, I’ll keep you posted on my progress, but if you want to stay up to date, follow me on Instagram.

Xo,

Jen
