Ursula Shell Necklace Decor

When I was working on the Disney Seashell Sign for the nursery, I came across this shell in our bin. Isn’t it neat? Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete?

I immediately pulled it out and exclaimed to my husband, “Look! It’s Ursula’s shell!”

And that, my friends, is how inspiration strikes in my world.

If you love The LittleMermaid, your decor needs this addition. It won’t cost much…

Just your voice.

We chose to use this shell as decor for our nursery, but you can easily attach it to a black cord and wear as a costume necklace. The shell (called a shark’s eye) comes in a number of sizes and I’ve seen them at various craft stores (check the floral department). I just happened to have a gigantic one and since Ursula is a big, scary sea witch octopus, I thought the size was appropriate.

All you need for this project is a shell and a can of gold spray paint. I used Rust-Oleum Speciality Metallic Gold.

Simply cover a workspace in a well-ventilated area. Hold the can of paint 8-10 inches away from the shell and spray.

Coat in thin, even layers. When the top is dry, flip and spray the underside.

Allow to fully dry and you’re done!

Ta-da!

Ursula’s shell is the perfect addition to the nursery decor, especially next to this beautiful Jim Shore piece. So simple but meaningful and fits right in with the other decor.
