Fourth of July Patriotic Mantel Decor

Opening my bin of Independence Day decorations is like being greeted by old friends. These decorations are some of my favorite projects ever, and I’m still so proud of what I made.

This year, we finally have the space to decorate and of course, I had to do a fun mantel display. You have to check out how patriotic (and slightly nerdy) this turned out!

How fun is this glittery 1776 wood sign?! So simple but quite the adorable addition to any patriotic decorations. You can find the tutorial here.

Boom! Snap! Crackle! Woodblock scraps, acrylic paint, and floral wire make adorable firecrackers.

If you’re wondering, yes. Yes, I do own this many books about American Revolution topics. This era was the focus of my bachelors in history.

These George Washington and Thomas Jefferson silhouettes are the pride and joy of my decorations collection. I still can’t believe I made these, and they have survived so beautifully over the years. Make your own using the instructions here.

Finally, add light, color, and flair to the holiday (or any holiday) with an easy lighted ribbon garland. This is a great project to do with kids! Simply cut fabric (or ribbon) into 4-5″ x 1″ strips and double-knot around a string of lights. Easy peasy!

Happy Independence Day, everyone!
